My Amazing Woman

Women never cease to fascinate me, especially my Wife. You would think after 27 years of being together that I would know everything about her. Yesterday, I found out something that just broke my heart.

Next Saturday is the Wife’s birthday; it’s also the day that I go away for two weeks. I’ve been telling her that we would be celebrating her birthday when I got back home so she didn’t have the faintest clue that I was planning a surprise birthday party for her.

All the plans were being carefully laid out with the help of some family members. The party was going to be on Saturday afternoon (yesterday), G was calling me around 2 to ask us to come over to play Wii. All was going good until:

The Wife woke up Saturday AM with a belly ache. Ok, so by mid morning that went away.

I made sure we had things to do in the morning, shopping at Wallyworld and Frys but that ended up being a shorter shopping trip than planned because we ended up not having to go to Frys.

The Wife kept asking me why I was looking at my cell phone. (I was seeing if I had gotten any text messages from G). I told her I wanted to know the time. (I don’t normally wear a watch). She asked why I wanted to know the time. I just stared at her and shrugged my shoulders and said “its 12:30”. She finally let that one go.

Later the Wife said something about going up to the Casino while I played with my electronics. At this point I thought oh crap, how do I keep her tied down until 3?

Luckily everything fell into place. G called at 2 saying the right verbiage. I checked with the Wife, even though she didn’t seemed too thrilled about going over (NASCAR was starting at 5), she said ok.

At 3:15 we left the house. At 3:30 the Wife walked into G’s house filled with family and friends that shouted out a big SURPRISE HAPPY BIRTHDAY! At 3:31 the Wife was crying as S handed her a frozen margarita. And the party started.

Later, after we got home my Wife told me she had never in her life had a big surprise birthday party. I asked, "even as a kid?" She told me especially as a kid, she never had birthday parties let alone a surprise one. My heart broke right there on the spot. I gave her a big hug and told her I’ll give her a party every day for the rest of her life.

My Wife, the most amazing woman in my world and I’m so lucky to have her.

You are definitely a wonderful wife!! I've had one surprise party and it was a great time. I was so sick that I had no desire to go anywhere for my birthday, but my room mate dragged me out and there was my gf at the time and all my friends and my co-workers at BWW's. It was worth leaving the house for.
