First Time for Everything

I had to go.

Really go. I held off the inevitable for as long as I could but now, I had to go. I found the ladies room at the Bangalore Zoo. An attendant gave me three squares of paper, count 3, and I opened up the door and stared at the toilet or lack of one.

It's a good thing I had many years of practice relieving myself in the woods or along Route 80. I figured it out, although I never did figure out what to do with the hose line (not in the picture).

To see more photos of India check out here.

ah...a squatty. i'm quite fond of them myself. they were often cleaner than the western style toilets we use here. in turkey the hose line usually had a small pitcher next to it. you filled the pitcher and dumped it into the toilet. even toilets that actually flushed had one. and if they didn't give you toilet paper then traditionally you were supposed to use your left hand to wipe. i'm sure you could use the hose to wash your hand enough to pull your pants up. ah...memories...

I don't know what I find more funny; you figuring out how to use it or the fact you took a picture of it.
I would have taken a picture too and then had to hear over and over, "Why did you take a pic of that?!" But those things are the memorable adventures.

I had to deal with this in Greece in 1996 - I know exactly how awful it is. Still, I'd do it all over again. :)

Call me OCD but all I can think of when I see this toilet is how dirty the floor around it must be from all the missed shots.

Yikes!

Your pictures of India were beautiful!
